Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook Ground Beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until crumbly. Drain excess grease and season with salt and pepper.
Layer Potatoes and Beef:
Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes at the bottom of the greased baking dish.
Spread the cooked ground beef evenly over the potatoes.
Prepare Soup Mixture:
In a medium bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until well combined.
Pour this mixture over the beef layer in the baking dish.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
Add Cheese:
Remove the casserole and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving. This allows it to set slightly for easier serving.
Serving Suggestions:
Pair this hearty casserole with a crisp green salad, steamed vegetables, garlic bread, or cornbread.
For an extra touch of comfort, serve with pickles and sour cream or a sprinkle of extra cheese.
